Hyacinthus orientalis ‘White Pearl’ is a richly fragrant hyacinth with dense, upright spikes of star-shaped florets in a clean, luminous white. A dependable early- to mid-spring bloomer with sturdy stems, White Pearl adds a crisp, elegant look and a sweet, classic perfume to the spring garden. It’s a favorite for walkways, entryways, containers, and fresh-cut arrangements, and it pairs beautifully with pink, blue, and purple hyacinths or early tulips.
Quantity: 6 Bulbs
Growing Specifications
- Bloom Time: Early to mid spring
- Height: 8 to 10 inches
- Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade
- Hardiness Zones: Zones 3-9. In the Upstate SC, plant in fall (Oct - Dec) for spring blooms.
Planting & Care Instructions
- Soil: Plant in rich, well-draining soil amended with compost. Avoid areas where water stands.
- Depth & Spacing: Plant bulbs 5 to 6 inches deep, spaced 3 to 5 inches apart, pointed end up. Planting in groups of 5 or more makes the strongest display.
- Moisture: Water thoroughly at planting; normal rainfall is usually sufficient thereafter except in very dry climates.
- Good to Know: Hyacinths are naturally deer- and rodent-resistant. Handle bulbs with gloves, as the skins can irritate sensitive skin. Bulbs are toxic if eaten.
