Tulipa 'Dreamer' are a striking cut flower featuring full, layered double blooms easily mistaken for double-flowering peonies. Note: the pale pink pictured is the true color under natural sun exposure — when forced under grow lights, blooms take on a deeper, more saturated pink. Blooms carry subtle ivory and peach tones with a rose blush along the outer petal edges, and each flower has a pleasant, citrusy fragrance. Plants are compact with strong stems, comparable in height to other double early varieties.
Quantity: 10 Bulbs (9°C)
Growing Specifications
- Bloom Time: Early spring
- Height: 12 to 16 inches
- Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade
- Hardiness Zones: Zones 3–7, fall planting in the Upstate SC (Oct - Dec) for spring blooms. Must cover when evening temperatures are 35 degrees or below when buds are forming.
- Pre-Cooling: These bulbs arrive having already received a portion of their required cooling period at 9°C (48°F), giving growers in mild climates like the Upstate a head start toward the cold hours tulips need, resulting in a stronger, more reliable bloom.
Planting & Care Instructions
- Soil: Plant in rich, well-draining soil amended with compost.
- Depth & Spacing: Plant bulbs 6 to 8 inches deep, spaced 4 to 6 inches apart.
- Moisture: Water thoroughly at planting; normal rainfall is usually sufficient thereafter except in very dry climates.
