Caring for Your Farm Fresh Flowers
-
It’s important that whichever vessel you are placing your gorgeous flowers in, that it is clean enough to drink from.
-
Fill your vessel with cool fresh water, and apply flower food if available.
-
Remove any foliage that may fall within the waterline. Foliage will breakdown, creating bacteria that shortens vase life of your blooms. Pro Tip: Remove spent blooms as your flowers begin to age.
-
With sharp shears, you may trim the ends at an angle. Dull shears will crush them stems, not allowing for the flowers to properly hydrate. Trimming at an angle will allow the plant to drink the most keeping your blooms going.
(Do not re-trim daffodils) -
Avoid placing your arrangement in direct sunlight or near ripening fruit or vegetables. These can release ethylene gas that can cause flowers to age faster.
-
Enjoy and replace the water every other day to extend the vase life.
