I consider myself extremely fortunate that values and supports initiatives like the Travelers Rest Farmer’s Market, which undoubtedly stands out as one of the best.

Beyond the fantastic green space and events, the market's management serves as a beacon in the community, tirelessly working to make local food more accessible, promoting senior programs, and provide essential support to their farmers.

What sets this market apart is its commitment to creating farm-to-table experiences, educating the community about food, and raising funds for crucial farm capacity and crisis grants.

Towards the end of last year, we were given the opportunity to submit a grant proposal aimed at enhancing the capacity of our farm offerings

After a few conversations with customers, we decided on increasing our root crop offerings.

Hand-picking carrots, using a digging fork, and washing each bunch individually proved to be time-consuming.

To streamline our processes and increase productivity, we plan to invest in an undercutter for the tractor, build a dedicated root crop wash station, and expand our cold storage.

These enhancements will not only make our harvesting more efficient but will also allow us to grow more and contribute further to the vibrant local food scene.
